Popular right-wing commentator Candace Owens was let go from the Daily Wire this morning. She originally joined the network in November 2020. Her departure from the DW comes after Daily Wire founder Ben Shapiro repeatedly criticized her for anti-semitic statements and conspiracy theories.

Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boreing released a statement on social media platform X early Friday morning, announcing that the Daily Wire and Candace Owens would no longer be working together.

Candace Owens has been a frequent critic of the Israeli governments response to the October 7th terrorist attacks. However her attacks on the Israeli government quickly spiraled into what many considered to be anti-semitic and even conspiratorial rhetoric about Jewish people in general.

This led to tensions between the Daily Wire, whose employees appear to broadly support Israel, and Owens. Members of the community have been calling for her termination for months, although previously the premise had been rejected by DW leadership.

In November, Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boreing said that he “cannot fire Candace Owens,” because she is simply stating her opinion, the very purpose of the Daily Wire.

However it is now clear that further deliberation has occurred. The rule is no longer as solid as it once was proclaimed to be, and something broke the camels back.
